- At right is the end of the Gladmer Theatre at 233 North Washington Avenue. Moving left, in the same building, Randall's Health Foods is at 231. Continuing south, Silver Lead Paint at 229, Western Auto Supply at 225, Emery-Pratt office equipment at 223, Epicure Tea Shop at 221, MacLaughlin Music at 219, National China at 213, and Firestone Tires at 211. The block ends with the Tussing building at West Ottawa Street, home of the Palms Theatre at 209 and the College Drugstore at 201. Buildings seen to the south include the Bank of Lansing at 101 North Washington Avenue, Prudden building on South Washington and West Michigan Avenue, and the Michigan National Tower at West Allegan Street and South Capitol Avenue. - Was originally Mead's Hall. The portion on the right, marked vacant, 118 North Washington Avenue, was occupied by the Garden Theater after its days as Mead's Hall. Mac's Cigars and Tobacco was at 120 North Washington Avenue. City Planning Division staff notations are on the photo. One of two variants.

- The view is from River Street to the northwest into the intersection. The American Bank and Trust office on East Washtenaw Street was at that location for only a brief period. Hal Clark Tailors is also on the 100 block of East Washtenaw Street. The large building to the right is the auditorium portion of the Michigan Theatre on South Washington Avenue. The Michigan National Tower is prominent in the background.

- Seen from North Grand Avenue. "Proud Rebel" - released in 1958 is playing at the Esquire Theatre at 120 East Michigan Avenue. The American State Bank building is in the rear at South Washington Avenue. Planning Division staff notations are present.

- Looking north. From a vantage point at 234 South Washington, seen are Hurd's mens clothing at 234, Green's Apparel women's clothing at 228, Fanny Farmer at 226, Lerner Shops also at 226, and Walgreen Drugs at 220-222. Several blocks of the east side of South Washington are also seen. Highlights include Schaefer Shoe Shop at 217, Michigan Theatre Arcade at 215, Small's Mens Shop at 211, the Foo Ying Cafe on the upper level at 207 1/2 - 209 1/2, Daniel's Jewelry Co. at 205 and Bosch jewelers at 201.
