- Color postcard depicting an elevated view along Central Avenue on Belle Isle. The street is crowded with pedestrians and in the foreground is a round flowerbed. Printed on verso: Central Avenue, Belle Isle, Detroit, Mich. Belle Isle Park contains about 700 acres and has cost Detroit including bridge leading to it about $2,000,000. It has beautiful lawns and Floral displays, also many miles of driveways and canals. It has a Zoo, Horticultural Building and Aquarium. Refreshments are served at both Casino and Pavillion. It was bought from the Chippewa and Ottawa Indians for eight Barrels of rum, three rolls of tobacco, six pounds of vermillion and a belt of wampum, by Lieutenant Mc Dougall in 1769. In 1879, 110 years afterward it was sold to Detroit for $200,000. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked May 26, 1913.

In view are many pedestrians, the Bagley Memorial Fountain, Hammond Building, Post Office, and City Hall. Signs read "Pere Marquette", "Canadian Pacific", and "D & C Lines". Printed on verso: Fort Street West is one of the leading business thoroughfares of Detroit. It connects the heart of the city with the immense manufacturing establishments in Delray. Cars leave its foot of Woodward Avenue for Woodmere, the Fort Wayne Barracks, Delray, Ecorse, Wyandotte, Trenton, Monroe, and Toledo. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Sep 6, 1909.

The grizzly, polar and black bears have their appropriate pits. The enclosures are constantly thronged with visitors watching the playful antics of the bears in the water.
