- Buildings in downtown Birmingham located on the west side of [Old] Woodward, just north of Maple Road. The corner building in the foreground is occupied by Levinson's Department Store. In the background are residences along Maple Road and a firehose tower. The photographer was Louis James Pesha, who owned and operated Pesha Postcard Company of Marine City, Michigan. - West side of [Old] Woodward Avenue in downtown Birmingham, looking north from intersection at Maple. Woodward is unpaved. The image of a biplane has been superimposed on the original photograph to create a novelty postcards. The photographer, Louis James Pesha, was known for these whimsical images. A horse and wagon are stopped at the intersection, and three men are standing nearby. Further south are two women and another horse and carriage. Utility poles and wires are present and the trolley, aka Detroit Interurban Rail (DUR), can bee seen in the unpaved street. Real photo postcard, stamped Azo, manufactured by Eastman Kodak Co. - Color-tinted postcard image of large frozen fountain with trees in the foreground and a building in the background. Description on back, "1418--Ice Fountain, Washington Boulevard. One of the unique features of Detroit in winter is the famous ice fountain on Washington Boulevard. Several jets of water are allowed to play all winter, and the result is a massive berg of ice which sometimes reaches a height of nearly thirty feet and contains many tones of crystal.
