The Liberty Bell replica rang out on May 25, 1950 to signify the opening of the local Independence Savings Bond drive of the Treasury Department. Speakers at the ceremony included Jack Benny, "Rochester" from the Jack Benny show as well as local dignitaries. Veterans and civic groups also participated in the event. Hanging above the intersection are two new traffic signals marked “Straight” and “Right”. Each light has 3 lamps, arranged horizontally. Route signs on the utility poles identify Fulton as M-37 (Hastings) and M-21 (Ionia) and Lake Drive as US-16 & M-50. A stationary vehicle is stopped on Lake Drive. Streetcar tracks in the brick pavement can be seen running down Fulton.

The roof is almost flat; the center portion of the roof is set slightly above the two sides. Just under the roofline is the lettering “York Motor Co.” There is an arched opening in the center of the 2nd level that looks like a door, and arched windows on either side under the lower steps of the roofline.
