It challenges the words of Hitler, "In 1918 the SPD took over a super Reich," by explaining the massive debt that the Treaty of Versailles had left Germany. Therefore, the SPD inherited a suffering Germany, crippled by the reparations they owed to the Allied powers. It was in no way their fault that the Weimar Republic had suffered to a great extent.
