- This photograph shows an assortment of prison camp script and coins from Germany and Austria. All of the denominations are small (one to five Pfennige for German script and one to fifty Heller for Austrian script and coins), but this cash replaced legal currency to prevent prisoners from using the money to fund escape attempts or to bribe guards. The German script came from two prison camps in Saxony, Koenigstein-an-der-Elbe and Chemnitz.

- A group of Allied officers enjoy a swim in the Elbe on a hot summer day under the watchful eyes of their German guards. The Germans did not take any chances during this excursion away from the prison; note the guard boat in the middle of the river to make sure that there are no long distance swimming records.

- Four Russian officers relax in their quarters in the prison camp at Koenigstein. Their table is covered with a nice white linen, a table lamp, a double tea pot, and desert dishes. One prisoner reads a newspaper, while the officer behind him appears a bit bored. The standard of living enjoyed by officers was far superior to the lifestyles of enlisted prisoners.

- Russian Orthodox prisoners in Koenigstein (Russian and Serbian POW's) worshiped in this ornate chapel at Koenigstein. The altar has a number of candles and a painting of Christ triumphant above it; to the left is another altar with three vessels, probably containing sacred oils, with a painting of Christ praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. There are five additional paintings which serve as panels: Christ on the cross; the Virgin Mary holding the Christ child; Christ's ascension; an archangel; and a saint. A painting of the Lord's Supper is positioned above the panels.
