Willie recounts his youth in Mississippi, his service in the U.S. Army in Korea, and being hired at Fisher in December 1954. He describes the jobs blacks were placed on, discrimination, and being denied an apprenticeship. He comments on millwright work, family, neighborhood, and retirement.

Art discusses his life and career as a Greek immigrant moving to Lansing and the history of the bar including its use as a UAW strike headquarters and soup kitchen. Art talks about the services the bar provided workers such as paycheck cashing, parking, fast lunches, and a friendly environment. He talks about being part of the Westside neighborhood and the Sexton High School students stopping by for lunch.

He talks about the gardens, running track in the parking lot, and life in the neighborhood. Richard remembers the UAW organizing in 1936-37. He discusses racism in the factories and the union and meeting Walter Reuther.
