Marvin published a newspaper, The Rochester Plaindealer which lasted only nine months. (per A Lively Town, Rochester Centennial Commission, 1969, p. 95.). "Rufe" Frank was the son of Colonel John Chadsey Frank, Sr. and Arabella Chipman Frank. He grew up on the family farm on East Auburn Road and served in the Michigan 5th Infantry during the Civil War.
