Haigh talks about his duties as an engineer on various ships, going to Japan in the summer of 1946 and selling sugar on the black market. - In the second of a two part interview, Dr. Walter Adams, former interim President of Michigan State University and professor of economics, continues to discuss his career at MSU and the beginnings of the School of Labor and Industrial Relations (SLIR). Adams remembers a politically driven investigation of SLIR when the business community felt MSU was providing too much assistance to labor organizations, recounts an episode during the McCarthy era when a threat to the university was beaten back by John Hannah and explains how SLIR joined the College of Social Science rather than the business school. Adams also talks about his book "The test", his experiences as interim university president, his opposition to the Vietnam War and why he marched to the state capital with students on October 15, 1969, and efforts to unionize MSU faculty and the creation of a faculty grievance process. Adams says that he often spoke out on campus controversies and frequently had the ear of John Hannah and that he feels that the quality of the MSU administration has declined in the last ten to fifteen years. Adams is interviewed by MSU Professor of Labor and Industrial Relations John Revitte.

- Hmong immigrant, lawyer and pastor Dr. T. Christopher Thao recounts emigrating to the U.S. and living in isolation with his sponsor in rural Arkansas. He discusses his educational drive which took him to Minnesota where he obtained his undergraduate and law degrees as well as a Ph.D. in New Testament studies. He says his call to ministry took him first to California and then finally brought him to Warren, Michigan.

- Robert "Buddy" Battle talks about his role in the formation of the Trade Union Leadership Council (TULC), an African American labor organization that became a significant force in Detroit politics. Battle talks about issues of race relations, discrimination, and segregation in organized labor and the UAW and the Ford Local 600. He also talks about Detroit and Michigan politics and the rise of Coleman Young, Richard Austin, and others.

- Harold Janetzke recalls his career as a timekeeper and engineer at REO Motor Car Company/Diamond-Reo Trucks, Inc. in Lansing, MI, from 1936 to 1975. He describes the 1937 strike that brought the UAW into REO, his move to engineering and attending Michigan State College. He says that the Great Depression devastated the Lansing community, but that World War II brought work back to the plant as REO converted from car to truck production. Janetzke's wife Eileen describes her job as a secretary at REO, meeting and marrying Harold, and working until late into her first pregnancy in 1943. They describe the heart break of the plant's closing in 1975, the loss of the pension and Harold going back to work for a few more years at Motor Wheel. The interviewers are Shirley Bradley and Lisa Fine. Recorded as part of the REO Memories oral history project.

- Grand Haven native Al VanBemmelen was a local fireman and boxer who helped build the City Hall and Fire Station in 1934. In this interview, he also discusses Grand Haven's first hospital and the development of North Ottawa Community Hospital. Before the new hospital was built, Al recalls how folks with contagious diseases were quarantined in the Pest House, located on the corner of Taylor and Sheldon Streets. Mr. VanBemmelen also provides details about area dairies, his work at Grand Haven High School and Keller Tool, and his boxing career. He recalls his school days at the Fourth Ward, which became Ferry Elementary School.
