The architectural specifications (Job 269, Set No. 1) are bound in a booklet that has three brass fasteners at the top. The cover is made of heavy tan paper and includes typewritten text for the title. Printed text beneath the title shows the name, "J. Lawson Miller, Architect." The cover interior and outside back cover have printed advertisements for many contractors, tradesmen, and building materials suppliers. The booklet contains 76 pages of typewritten text that give brief descriptions of all of the materials and construction requirements for the project. An index is shown on the first page.

- One watercolor painting of a 3-story brick and stone residential house. The painting was done on heavy white paper and shows a front corner view of the house which has decorative stonework around windows and at the corners. The house has a large front porch with four support columns and a semicircular top. Sidewalk, a grass lawn, and a tree are shown in the foreground. Several trees are also shown in the background. The painting is signed, "J. L. Miller, Detroit, Mich., 1897," in the upper left corner.

The drawings (Job 250) consist of red and black ink on linen and show elevation view, a wall cross-section detail,a dn floor plans of a proposed 3-story home on East Grand Boulevard for "Mr. Albert E. Arndt, Owner, Detroit, Michigan." The drawings, shown at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot, were part of a set of eight sheets that were prepared by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect." Some blue, green, and yellow pencil shading has been added on the versos to highlight various architectural details. The house was located on the west side of E. Grand Blvd. between Forest and Canfield.

The drawing (Job 245) consists of red and black ink on linen and shows two elevation views and a wall cross-section detail for an existing 2-story hotel that was to be remodeled from 13 guest rooms to 21 guest rooms. The work was being done for "Mr. John C. Garvey, Owner, Detroit, Michigan." This drawing, shown at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot, was part of a set of seven sheets that were prepared by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect." Some blue, green, and yellow pencil shading has been added on the verso to highlight various architectural details. John C. Garvey was the proprietor of the Michigan Central Stock Yards Hotel which was located at the corner of Dix Avenue and Waterman Street in southwest Detroit.

On the first drawing, the name, "Soldoris," is shown over the apartment entrance doorway on Michigan Avenue. The title block in the lower right corner of the first sheet shows that the drawing (part of a set of eight sheets) was prepared by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect," at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot. - Set of seven architectural drawings of J. Lawson Miller's Job Number 253, a three-family flat building designed for R.W. Hawley of Detroit, to be built on the north side of West Ferry Avenue between Cass Avenue and Woodward Avenue. The plans consist of a front elevation, rear elevation, two side elevations, and floor plans for the basement, first, second, and third floors, drawn at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot in red and black ink on linen with blue, green, yellow, and orange pencil shading on the verso to highlight various architectural details. Each main floor contains a three-bedroom apartment complete with maid's quarters. The basement contains storage space for each flat, a laundry room, a boiler room, and a smaller single-bedroom apartment. Each page is stamped and signed in approval by Henry C. Slater of the Department of Buildings of the City of Detroit, dated July 31, 1913.

The proposed building was located at the northwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Wesson Avenue and shows the name, "Soldoris," over the apartment entrance doorway on Wesson Avenue.
