Canoeing is the leading sport at Belle Isle, Detroit's largest play-ground. Its 702 acres are threaded by many miles of canals and lakes, affording an ideal spot in which the light little craft cruise about by thousands. Band concerts are given at the city's expense during the summer afternoons and evenings and on such occasions the canoeists are present in great numbers. - Color postcard depicting an elevated view along Central Avenue on Belle Isle. The street is crowded with pedestrians and in the foreground is a round flowerbed. Printed on verso: Belle Isle is in the Detroit River, between Detroit and Windsor, Canada. The Island contains 702 acres and is entirely covered with one of the most beautiful parks in the United States, having some 21 miles of Macadam Roads; a magnificent Casino, Pavilions; Boat Houses, Aquarium; Horticultural Hall and Zoological Gardens. The Island was purchased by Detroit in 1879 and has since then expended $1,600,000 in beautifying it. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jan 12, 1921.

- Hand-tinted sepia-toned photographic print of the eastern face of the Belle Isle Casino. Chairs are set up on the plaza around its base, and a small shack stands in the foreground. The building's roof, as well as that of the small shack, have been colored reddish brown. Purple highlights have also been added to the flowers of plants outside of the building.
