- Postcard. Color image of the First Congregational Church. Front reads, "First Congregational Church, Detroit, Mich." Back reads, "First Congregational Church. The present house of worship of the First Congregational church on Woodward Ave. corner of Forest, was completed in 1891 and cost $165,000. The membership of the church approximates 1000, and comprises one of the largest and most substantial organizations of Michigan Protestantism." Card was mailed and the postmark reads, "Detroit, Mich., Feb 15, 3 pm, 1909."

Image and surrounding text were clipped from an article detailing the construction and opening of the church from the December 15, 1855 issue of Ballou's Pictorial and mounted on cardboard. The article which the engraved drawing accompanies was originally located on page 380 in Ballou's Pictorial Volume IX, No. 24, Whole No. 232.
