- Single page from Gleason's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion, later known as Ballou's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion, dated March 4, 1854, pgs. 131-132. Page 132 features two etchings. The etching on the upper portion of the page depicts a room from the Egyptian Museum in Paris. The etching on the bottom portion of the page depicts the Michigan Great Central Railroad Depot, as viewed facing south along Third Street. The text around the etchings on page 132 is a continuation of a book chapter from the verso.

Text underneath the photograph reads "French Honor American Heroes! / Among the most sacred spots in France are the American Cemeteries where rest the American heroes who died fighting for Liberty. These graves are being tenderly cared for by the French. / How can you speak of sacrifice in the purchase of Liberty Bonds when you contemplate the investment these boys have made for the cause of Liberty?"

The poster prominently features an illustration of Marianne welding a sword and a shield emblazoned with an emblem of the French Republic. The illustration is signed "A. - Handwritten letter written by Louis Phélypeaux, comte de Pontchartrain at Versailles on December 24, 1692. The letter is watermarked with the royal arms marked "Cvsson." Translated, the letter reads: Monsieur, I have received your letter of the 15th of this month. The King has approved the account of the award that you have made at a discount for the clothes that are to be distributed to those condemned to the galleys and you can act accordingly. His Majestry does not doubt that you have taken all the precautions possible to reduce this expense and that you will see to it that the contractor provide the clothes of the quality that has been explained (explique'e) to them. At Versailles 24th December, 1692. I am, Monsieur, your most humble and very affectionate servant, Pontchartrain.
