- Weekly time book for the Detroit Fire Department's Phoenix Company No. 3, containing pages of ledges with the days of the week in column, and the names of the company's firefighters in rows. Handwritten notes were made in the corresponding spots indicating primarily when firefighters took a leave of absence or fell asleep on watch. The book is bound in a cardboard cover, covered with brown marbled paper. "Phoenix Fire Company No. 3," is printed on the cover, and a handwritten label that reads, "April 12th 1868 to June 25th 1870," is affixed below.

He leans on a prop rock stand before a painted background of a lake surrounded by mountains and trees. "Capt. Adolph Hoenighausen taken 1876 as 'Minute Man,' pipeman 'Phoenix Steamer' Engine Co. No. 3," is handwritten beneath in green pen. The photo was previously housed in a grey J.W. Hughes display folder.

- Black and white glossy print of an earlier photograph that shows eight firemen who are seated on or standing beside a horse-drawn steam fire engine. The steam engine has been decorated for President Lincoln's funeral march which was held in Detroit on April 25, 1865. The firemen are part of the Phoenix Steam Fire Engine Company No. 3 and the name, "Phoenix," is visible on several of the firemen's belts. The 2-story brick fire station and several wood-frame houses can be seen in the background.
