- This is a view of the prison near Magdeburg where the German government imprisoned Polish General Josef Pilsudski until the Armistice on the Western Front was signed in November 1918. He returned to Warsaw to assume leadership of the new Polish state.

- Seven Russian officers shared this room in the prison camp at Friedberg. They enjoyed individual beds, several chairs and tables (one with a table cloth), standing closets, and individual cupboards, a far better standard of living in relation to enlisted prisoners. The inhabitants decorated the walls with maps, publications, and pictures and a guitar on the wall in the corner.

- A group of Russian prisoners play a game of cards in their barrack at Heuberg using a stool as their card table. Gambling could become a serious vice in prison camps, especially since many prisoners had a lot of time on their hands and few wholesome diversions. Note that the POWs hung their dining utensils and clothing on the walls of their barrack.

- This program highlights three theatrical performances which were presented on August 19, 1918 in the prison camp at Kedos by British POW's. The show included "Doctor's Order," a comedy; "The Monkey's Paw," a drama; and "The Bride," a farce.

- A German sentry, depicted by his shadow in the snow, intercepts two British internees attempting to scale the fence at the prison camp at Ruhleben. One prisoner, still carrying his satchel, hangs helplessly from the top of a post, while the other sits in the snow.

- Photograph of the official delegation which attended the inauguration of the first American YMCA hall in a German prison camp. Dignitaries attending the celebration included Dr. Carl Stange of the University of Goettingen (standing in the front row from left to right), Ambassador James W. Gerard of the United States, and Colonel Bogen (commandant of the prison camp). Archibald C. Harte, the American YMCA representative, stands in the front row to the right. Allied prisoners stand in the background in front of the YMCA hall.

- A British prisoner of war painted this view of the town of Changri and the fortress from the Barracks Field. Art work provided POW's with a pastime during their captivity. Allied prisoners played a variety of sports on the Barracks Field to help them stay in physical shape.
