Athens; Lamps; Glaze; Clay (unfired); undecorated

Description:

Fine pale red clay with glaze varying from black to red. Greek lamp. Long flat topped nozzle with rounding end. Deep bowl has almost vertical sides and two grooves around outer edge of almost flat rim. which partially closes top. Broken about filling hole. Bottom rises to form conical projection in center. Plain slightly concave base. Base unglazed but polished. Lamp is heavy since it is made unusually thick especially at base.
