This facsimile is made from the engraved original in Bellin's Petit Atlas Maritime, Paris, 1764, in the Clements Library, University of Michigan. Based on two manuscript maps made by the French engineer Gaspard Chaussegros de Léry, the map proper, "La Riviere du Detroit" was drawn in 1752, and the inset "Plan du Fort du Détroit" was executed in 1749."
