- This Bedside Table, in the collection of the Newark Museum, consists of a plain rectangular steel form with white laminate plastic top and walnut shelf 2/3 of the way down. The object is finished with round metal gliders at the feet.
There is a circular embossed silver-on-white label affixed to the underside of the top which reads: "DESIGNED BY Nelson, George / HERMAN MILLER ZEELAND, MICH (with logo at center). " There is a rectangular paper label below with patent information: "From nelson's 'STEELFRAME' line, designed 1954, #N181. - This Night Stand, in the collection of The Henry Ford, is constructed of a cylindrical metal support frame from the drawer to the bottom shelf. A castano sequoia burl veneer covers the exterior surfaces and shelf while the inlay is harewood. The drawer is a two way and has cylindrical metal drawer pulls on either side. On the back are raised rounded edges.
This piece was designed for the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, "A Century of Progress," "Design For Living House. "

The veneer is rosewood with a recessed base inlaid with vertical stripes of rosewood. There are also a circular concave mat brass pull on the drawer.
