- Staple-bound booklet from the Department of Buildings and Safety Equipment containing rules governing inflammable liquids in the city of Detroit, dated March 1, 1920. The book is bound in a dark green cover. "Chief Martin Cooney, Sct of Horses," is handwritten inside the cover.

- Weekly time book for the Detroit Fire Department's Phoenix Company No. 3, containing pages of ledges with the days of the week in column, and the names of the company's firefighters in rows. Handwritten notes were made in the corresponding spots indicating primarily when firefighters took a leave of absence or fell asleep on watch. The book is bound in a cardboard cover, covered with brown marbled paper. "Phoenix Fire Company No. 3," is printed on the cover, and a handwritten label that reads, "April 12th 1868 to June 25th 1870," is affixed below.

- One certificate of gratitude. The certificate is handwritten in faded black ink on very yellowed heavy paper. An embossed seal of the "Eastern Michigan Asylum, Pontiac," and a red ribbon are attached near the lower left corner. The handwritten text of the certificate shows: "Eastern Michigan Asylum, Pontiac, December 28, 1891. At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Eastern Michigan Asylum held on the 28th day of December 1891, the following resolutions were offered by Trustee Baldwin: Resolved, that the thanks of the Board of Trustees of the Eastern Michigan Asylum be extended to the Fire Department of the City of Detroit for its prompt response to the call for aid at the calamitous fire of the 26th inst. [current month] and the alacrity with which an engine and a detachment of firemen were dispatched. Resolved, that we also extend to Captain Conklin and his men of Company 2 of the Detroit Fire Department sincere thanks for the earnest work, intrepidity, endurance, and skill manifested by them on the unfortunate occasion. Resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be properly engrossed and presented to the Detroit Fire Department. Which resolutions were adopted unanimously. C. B. Burr, Secretary; W. G. Vinton, President."

- Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing the wreckage of the Detroit Journal Building after an explosion. The photo shows a mass of fallen structural timbers and a large number of workers who are carrying away debris. Spectators are visible on the rooftop in the background. The explosion occurred at 9:05 on the morning of Nov. 6, 1895. The building was located at 49 W. Larned St. and was totally destroyed.

- Sepia-toned cabinet card photo of an unidentified fireman who is standing and also leaning against a studio prop rock. The name of the photographic studio is printed in gold-colored ink on the bottom of the photo: "F. Friend, 244 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich." Handwriting on the verso shows, "#18."

- Sepia-toned photograph of a memorial display for Captain Richard Filban of the Detroit Fire Department's Hook and Ladder Company No. 3, who died in the line of duty at the D.M. Ferry and Company Seed Warehouse fire on January 1, 1886. A framed head-and-shoulders portrait photo of Filban in uniform is surrounded by a floral display. Wreaths, crosses, doves, ladders, axes, and hooks are among the motifs represented in the display. Several messages are also spelled out in flowers, "faithful unto death," "A.O.H.," "G.R.F.D.," "Capt. R.F.," "Last Call Box 16," and "Last Call Dick." "Mr. Worth 3 #350 + 1 #365 + ur[?], Eng #2 Larned + Antoine, $2.00 paid," and "#48 Richard Pilban Funeral Wreaths DFD," are handwritten in pencil on the verso.

Several wood frame and brick houses are visible in the background. A typewritten label at the bottom of the photo notes "Ahrens Fox high pressure car in the Detroit, Michigan, fire dept." and the number, "602," is shown in the lower right corner. A typewritten label on the verso notes "1922 Ahrens-Fox High Pressure Apparatus; This apparatus was used with the old high pressure hydrant system in downtown Detroit. This truck was originally designated as High Pressure No. 1 located at Wayne and Larned Sts. and is still in service today as a reserve boat tender for the fireboat. Photo courtesy of C. Woodward." - Large sepia-toned group portrait photograph of the firefighters of K.C. Barker Company No. 4, posed with their horse-drawn fire engine in front of their fire station, presumably at Orchard Street and Fifth Street during a memorial event for Abraham Lincoln. A young girl in a dress decorated with a ribbon, a harp, a small portrait of Lincoln, banners, garland, and a small flag are on the engine. The majority of the firefighters wear matching shirts, pants, helmets, and belts printed with "K.C. Barker." The men standing on the engine wear peaked caps, and one standing on the rear also wears a belt identifying him as an engineer. Two of the men on the far left hold bugles. One of them wears a "foreman," belt, the other wears one that is only partially legible, "2nd A[...]." The two men to their right both lean on an upright hose nozzle. The station in the background is a two-story brick structure, and two people peer from its upper windows. A hose apparatus is in the street on the left edge of the frame. Several spectators are also visible in the background. The photo is mounted on linen.
