Lansing Broadcasting Co. is still present in a building holding several businesses in addition to their WILS-AM radio station: Verra-Kleen Cleaners, and Baucom Barber; all used 407 as their address. Next, Vandervoort Marine Sales replaced the Dura-Chrome Dinette Co. at 417. Michigan Liquor Control Commission Retail and Wholesale Store remained at 417. No signs, however, are legible in the photo. Three doors are seen below a sign, "Entrance to Dancing." The city directory describes the Lounge as a beer garden with no mention of dancing, nor is dancing mentioned anywhere else in the area.

The films shown on the theater marquee were released in 1950 and 1953; most photographs in this collection with dates, however, were taken between 1959 and 1974. The horses and wagon made a national tour, visiting various Budweiser distributors in many towns, in 1950. In Lansing, they paraded through downtown on August 19, and again on August 21. Behind them Carl's Grill, Mike's Market, Lansing Dry Cleaners, the Furniture Exchange, and other businesses can be seen in the 300 block of North Washington Avenue. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo and trimmed several photographs for assembly into this composite view. An automobile partially seen in one part is absent from the other because the images were taken at different times.

Michigan Millers Mutual Fire Insurance Company building is next with its first floor occupant, People's Finance Service. The last building in the block was known as the Cahill Building at the time of the photograph. The Cahill Building actually had 200 North Capitol Avenue as its address.
