The long image at the top right is a scene, captioned, "Detroit harbor showing water front of city and character of shipping." Several dock workers move bags and barrels at the bottom, while in the background, sailing ships and steamships travel along the river. Below, another long panel depicts a north-facing view of Woodward Avenue, extending from Campus Martius. Shops on the corner of Michigan Avenue, and Woodward Avenue, including Hudson and Symington are depicted. The Opera House is also pictured, housing J.L. Hudson's. An optician, Hull Brothers Family Groceries, and Chas. A. Werner Glassware are depicted as well. Several moonlight towers are visible in the distance. Harper Hospital is in the topmost of the three panels, arranged vertically on the far right. Below are the police headquarters at Bates Street and Farmer Street and the house of correction at the present site of Eastern Market.

Page 363 contains two etchings representing "Michigan.-The City of the Straits-A Ramble Among the Public and Business Establishments of Detroit. From sketches by Walter Yeager and H. Ogden." A sign for "Provisions" is visible along the storefronts on the left side of the picture. A man, three children, a dog, and a horse and a cart are in the middle ground. A woman with a parasol, and a fence or railing that reads, "Hanging 102" is in the foreground. Verso bears a hand-colorized portrait of a seated woman in a purple dress, with white sleeves and a collar. Her hair is pulled back into a chignon and she wears a cross around her neck.

The business center of Detroit is the Campus Martius, situated at the convergence of Lafayette, Monroe, Michigan and Woodward Avenues. It was reserved as a breathing spot in the "Governor and Judges" plan, adopted for the city in its early history and has been beautified by a fountain, donated by Mrs. Thomas W. Palmer. A mimeographed caption is on the verso, along with an impression of a photo of William C. Maybury: This picture was taken in the central business portion of the city of Detroit from a window of a hotel known as the Russell House.. The hotel is situated on the South East corner of Woodward Avenue and Cadillac Square. The photograph is made from a negative taken in the fall of 1900 and is a fairly good representation of exterior photography, at this date. The photograph was made by C.M. Hayes and Co., a firm engaged in general photography.

The upper floors of the Opera House have collapsed and rubble fills its lower level, spilling out on the sidewalk. The roof of the building containing Mitchell's Table Supply Company to the right, and, in the background, the south face of the Henry R. Leonard Furniture Company are visibly damaged as well. Barricades have been set up around the buildings' facades, and a large crowd has gathered along them in Campus Martius. Signs for actor Robert B. Mantell's appearance on October 11 are still visible on the building, next door on the Mitchell Table Supply Company building, and even on the barricade. Another sign hung on the Mitchell Table Supply Company reads, "Orders will be filled and patrons taken care of at store cor. of Woodward and State sts. Employees report there." The photo is mounted on grey cardstock. On the verso, the photo was mis-captioned as, "El Paso, Texas, Probably the Meyer Opera House - after fire."
