- Postcard. Sepia-toned photographic postcard depicting an early fire engine being pulled by three white horses south on Woodward Avenue through Grand Circus Park, as spectators line the sidewalk to watch. In addition to the driver, a firefighter sits in the front of the engine while another holds onto the rear. The photo was taken near Park Street and Woodward Avenue, facing north. Central United Methodist Church, and the Hotel Wolverine are visible in the background. "Photo by Straghota" printed in lower left. The verso has extensive handwritten notes: 1920 Last Run at corner of Woodward & Adams Ave. Methodist Church in background & Wolverine Hotel also in background. - Detroit Firemen's Fund Association membership certificate, designed by the Calvert Lithograph Company, and issued to Nicholas Walsh, and dated April 1, 1905. The certificate is signed by the group's president Guy Northrop, treasurer William H. Comtney, and secretary George D. Rohde, and a red embossed Detroit Firemen's Fund Association seal has been stamped besides the signatures. A color illustration of firefighters using a ladder apparatus and of a pair of firefighters riding on a horse-drawn fire engine are on the left side of the document.

- Sepia-toned gelatin silver photo of nine firemen who are getting dressed after being roused by a night alarm. The fire station sleeping quarters (with beds) can be seen in the background. The fireman's pole can be seen in the back of the room toward the right side. The mounting cardboard is printed in black ink at the top, "Taken At Night." The photographer's name is printed in black ink in the lower left corner: "J. Forster & Son, 178-180 Gratiot Ave., Detroit." The lower right corner is printed in black ink, "Headquarters for Flashlights." Handwriting on the verso notes "Interior Firehouse, circa 1890."

A horse-drawn sleigh can be seen at the far left side of the photo and several spectators can be seen on the right side. Various 1-story to 3-story wood frame or brick buildings can be seen in the background. Advertising posters on a wall near the center of the image mention the names "Peter F. Dailey" and "James J. Jeffries - A Man From the West."

- Weekly time book for the Detroit Fire Department's Phoenix Company No. 3, containing pages of ledges with the days of the week in column, and the names of the company's firefighters in rows. Handwritten notes were made in the corresponding spots indicating primarily when firefighters took a leave of absence or fell asleep on watch. The book is bound in a cardboard cover, covered with brown marbled paper. "Phoenix Fire Company No. 3," is printed on the cover, and a handwritten label that reads, "April 12th 1868 to June 25th 1870," is affixed below.

- Description:
- Detroit Fire Department active duty certificate, engraved by Capewell and Kimmel, and issued to Andrew Werbecht on July 31, 1854. The document bears the signatures of President Jerome Croul, Treasurer Alexander Paton, and Secretary Benjamin Vernor, beside a corroded metallic embossed Fire Department of the City of Detroit seal. Illustrations, purportedly hand colored by Robert Hopkin, of uniformed firefighters, an early fire apparatus and firefighting equipment, the seal of the State of Michigan, and Neptune flanked by two winged monsters are bordered by scrollwork. The number "12" has been added to the helmets of the firefighters and to the apparatus, likely indicating Werbecht's involvement in Woodbridge Fire Company No. 12. The certificate is mounted on linen.

- Cabinet card bearing a sepia-toned head-and-shoulders portrait photograph of Detroit Fire Commissioner Peter Henkel. Handwriting on the verso notes "ex-commissioner, Peter Henkel." This photograph is one of a series of eight photos of former Detroit Fire Department Commissioners. The decorative logo of the photographer's studio (Randall) has been torn off of the verso of the cabinet card photo. The proof bears the name of "Geo. Francis Train" at the bottom, and a stamp for "Randall, 220 & 222 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich.," is shown on the verso.

- Photographic Print (1 copy). Sepia-toned albumen cabinet card photo of a fireman who is standing beside a small table and holding a whip in his right hand. The fireman is wearing his uniform which includes a long, double-breasted coat, decorative belt, and cap. His shirt has been hand-colored in purple in the collar area. The badge on his coat has the handwritten number "2." (The copy photo shows the handwritten number "3" on his coat and the badge number on the cap also appears to be number 3.) Handwriting on the verso notes "Whitney B. Beattie."

- Sepia-toned albumen photo of Detroit's first steam fire engine. The photo shows a horse-drawn fire engine with one fireman in the driver's seat, three firemen standing on the sidewalk, and two firemen standing beside the rear wheel of the fire engine. Several bystanders are also visible. A brick fire station building is visible in the background. Four square decorative motifs that represent various tools of the fire department can be seen along the face of the fire station building. The name, "M. R. Freeman," is stamped in black ink in the lower right corner of the print.
