- Sepia-toned cabinet card taken of what remained of the Ernst Kern Dry Good Company following the 1886 fire which consumed the store. Only the front façade, and portions of the side, and rear walls remain. Rubble litters the ground. A crowd is gathered on the street near a long horse cart. "Compliments of Theo Hoeningh Usen's" printed on below the photo on the matting. "Shows the store of Ernst Kern" handwritten on verso.

- Black and white postcard depicting the Belle Isle Bridge on Fire, from aboard a fire tug, part of which is visible at the lower left. A dock which extends underneath the bridge is also caught in the fire. The center of the bridge has completely burned. - Monochromatic glass plate negative taken of the remains of the original Belle Isle Bridge after it burned on April 27, 1915, as viewed from Belle Isle to the west of the bridge, facing the mainland. Four of the bridges piers are visible along the river, no longer bearing the bridge. Closer to the shore, part of one of the spans has collapsed into the water. In the background, along the riverfront, the roller coasters and pavilions of Riverview Park, are visible, as is the Philip Kling Brewing Company, and a sign for Stegmeyer's ferry.

- Mounted sepia-toned photograph of a memorial display for Captain Richard Filban of the Detroit Fire Department's Hook and Ladder Company No. 3, who died in the line of duty at the D.M. Ferry and Company Seed Warehouse fire on January 1, 1886. A framed head-and-shoulders portrait photo of Filban in uniform is surrounded by a floral display. Wreaths, crosses, doves, ladders, axes, and hooks are among the motifs represented in the display. Several messages are also spelled out in flowers, "faithful unto death," "A.O.H.," "G.R.F.D.," "Capt. R.F.," "Last Call Box 16," and "Last Call Dick." The photograph is mounted on a paper backing with "Capt. Richard Filban, H. & L. Company No. 3, D.F.D., Died Jan. 1, 1886," printed below. That backing is additionally mounted on a linen backing.

- Mounted black and white panoramic image of the fire tug JAMES BATTLE being used to fight the fire which claimed the Belle Isle Bridge on April 27, 1915, created from two overlapping photos. Firefighters stand at the bow of the BATTLE, on the right side of the frame with its port side to the camera and the Detroit shore of the Detroit River, while smoke rises from the remaining trusses of the bridge on the right. Several bare columns, and another smoldering truss are visible further across the river in the background. The caption, "Burning of the Belle Isle Bridge, April 27, 1915," is printed along the bottom of the mat board.

- Mounted black and white photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from an elevated positioned across Griswold Street to the southwest. Icicles hang from the building's facade and surrounding utility lines, and rubble has settled around its base. A ladder apparatus, and a fire engine are on Griswold, near the northeastern end of the building. Several figures dot the streets. The sign for the Griswold Street Theatre is visible on the right edge of the frame. A moonlight tower is visible down State Street on the left edge of the frame.
