Magnificent shade trees are everywhere, real monarchs of forest that started to grow even before a white man set his foot on what is now the State of Michigan. The park was set aside in 1854 under the general redistricting of the City. In the foreground Detroit's slogan is brought out very prominently in beautifully colored foliage.
