Continuing south, Silver Lead Paint at 229, Western Auto Supply at 225, Emery-Pratt office equipment at 223, Epicure Tea Shop at 221, MacLaughlin Music at 219, National China at 213, and Firestone Tires at 211. The block ends with the Tussing building at West Ottawa Street, home of the Palms Theatre at 209 and the College Drugstore at 201. Buildings seen to the south include the Bank of Lansing at 101 North Washington Avenue, Prudden building on South Washington and West Michigan Avenue, and the Michigan National Tower at West Allegan Street and South Capitol Avenue. - Located on West Michigan Avenue. Lansing's first area mail carier was Bert N. La Du, October 2, 1899. He went by horse and buggy and his route took him twenty-two miles. Out Saginaw to M-100, then back to Grand Ledge Corners, south to St. Joseph Street and back into the city. Information from Heleln Grainger.
