- J.L. Hudson trade card advertising the company's move from the Detroit Opera House building, to their new location at 141, 143, and 145 Woodward Avenue. The recto is printed with a caricature of a man with an over-sized head in Elizabethan dress. He has a goatee and moustache, and wears a ruff, tunic, cape, and tights. He holds a small cap with a feather. "J.L. Hudson, Clothier, Detroit Opera House Building," is printed along the bottom. The verso is printed with the text, "On or about April 1st we will remove to our new stores, 141, 143 &145 Woodward Ave. where we shall be pleased to receive our Friends and Customers. J.L. Hudson." "Selma Beer," is handwritten on the verso.

- Print. Black and white photographic print taken from an elevated vantage point, of a ten-story addition to The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store Building on Woodward Avenue. A series of automobiles are parked adjacent to the curb in the foreground. Himelhoch's Department Store is south of the new addition and north of the current structure with visible window displays. Signage affixed to the new Hudson's addition reads, "Another 10 Story Building for the J.L. Hudson Co." The date is printed on the bottom of the recto, "Oct. 3 - 18." Also, the photography studios name and their geographic location are embossed on the bottom of the recto, "Manning Bros., Detroit."

- Print. Sepia-toned photographic print, taken from an elevated vantage point and looking northeast toward the corner of Woodward and Gratiot Avenues. The photograph depicts the steel frame construction of a new component of The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. The F. Rolshoven Co., is visible on the corner, and Hudson's is visible, adjacent on Gratiot. Automobiles are parked along the curb, and are also moving along the thoroughfare. Streetcars and horse carriages are also visible. Pedestrians populate the sidewalk, and the intersections. The subject, date, and photographic sequence numbers are printed on the bottom of the recto, "Hudson's; August 15 - 14; No. - 13.; 7882." Also, the photographer's name, and geographic location are stamped on the verso, "Charles Ruel Messinger, Commercial Photographer, 1646 Woodward Ave. Detroit, Mich. A female mannequin stands on the left side of the window, and appears to be admiring the differing styles of vacuums which are placed around an embroidered chair, a wringing table, and ornamented room partition. Signage on the far right side of the window features a floral print and reads, "Grosse Pointe and Eastern Michigan Horticultural Society FLOWER SHOW, November 10, 11, 12, 1922, Belle Isle Casino, Free to Public." Also, smaller signage in the central foreground reads, "The J.L. Hudson Company." - Letter addressed "To whom it is concerned," introducing the bearer, J.L. Ernst, as an authorized Encyclopedia Britannica salesman for the J.L. Hudson Company, dated November 8, 1901. The letter is typewritten on J.L. Hudson Company stationery which features an engraving of the store by the Calvert Lithographing Company. The letter is signed by the manager of the Britannica Department.
