The name of the firefighter "Henry Hutchinson, [?] member Phoenix [?]," is handwritten on the front free end paper. The books is bound in a brown cloth cover, with gold text and a laurel leaf motif on the cover.

- Black and white postcard depicting the Belle Isle Bridge, in the aftermath of the fire, as viewed from the west. Amid the columns, only one truss remains near the center of the frame. An insert in the upper left corner provides a view along the remains of the length of the bridge. Rubble sits in the water near the closest column. A single truss is in the distance. "W.D. - Mounted black and white photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from an elevated positioned across Griswold Street to the southwest. Icicles hang from the building's facade and surrounding utility lines, and rubble has settled around its base. A ladder apparatus, and a fire engine are on Griswold, near the northeastern end of the building. Several figures dot the streets. The sign for the Griswold Street Theatre is visible on the right edge of the frame. A moonlight tower is visible down State Street on the left edge of the frame. - Letter, with envelope, from William Duncan, chief engineer to Joseph Campau, dated April 9, 1851, inviting him to attend the fire department's annual inspection in front of Firemen's hall. Campau's address is handwritten on the envelope in French. Letter reads: "Sir, In behalf of our Fire Department I would respectfully tender you an invitation to be present at their annual inspection which takes place this afternoon at half past two o clock in front of the Firemen's Hall the Common Council and those of our citizens who intend to be present will meet in the Bidille[?] House trusting we shall have the honor of your presence. I remain Respectfully Yours William Duncan Chief Engineer

- Sepia-toned glossy photo of the fire tug, DETROITER. The view shows the port side of the vessel underway (probably on the Detroit River). Several crewmembers are standing on the foredeck and one fireman is operating a fire hose nozzle above the pilothouse. Handwriting on the verso shows "Detroiter, Detroit's first fire tug; wooden, built at Toledo, 1893."
