Description:

Fragment of woven wool fabric with brown warp and weft and a rectangular section of purple and white dovetailed tapestry with linen weft-wrapping. There is a ribbed selvedge along one side of the fabric. The tapestry section begins 3 cm from the selvedge, and its rectangular shape is divided by two 0.2 cm wide brown bands into three purple and white bands. The outer two bands are 3.1 cm and 3.5 cm wide and they are ornamented with weft wrapping in interlaced patterning that begins 1.7 cm from the dovetail edge. A line of white linen triangles extends weftwise in slit tapestry along the bottom and top edges of each outer band. The center band is 1.7 cm wide and is ornamented with a repeating pattern of circles and vine scrolls.
