Description:

A group of Mandan engaged in an archery game, the object of which is to shoot as many arrows as one possibly can before the first arrow falls to the ground. In the foreground is a tribesman wearing a feather headdress, red body and facial paint, a breechcloth adorned with a beaver pelt and whose skin is coated in white clay appears to be in the act of shooting, while others stand by and observe.
