Martin Van Buren (Free Soil candidate) on a buffalo, upsets Zachary Taylor (Whig) and Lewis Cass (Democrat). Cass and Taylor are falling into the Salt River, a symbol of political oblivion. The Free Soil Party organized at Buffalo, New York.; "Entered According to Act of Congress in the year 1848 by H.R. Robinson in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Southern Distct. of N. York."
