According to the Kalamazoo Gazette, January 31, 1944, the Company won the Army-Navy "Excellence in Production" Award (shortened to 'E' Award) for "outstanding production and achievement". The Company was producing power operated bombers and employed 30 women and 60 men. The photograph was taken for the Balch Manufacturing Company, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
