Visible in this photograph is the Waters Exhibition Building located at Lyon Street and Ottawa Avenue. Behind it is the top of the Morton House which was located at Monroe and Ionia. The Old Kent Bank/Fifth Third Bank, was one of the first to go up during urban renewal of the mid 1960s. It is located on the northwest corner of Ottawa and Lyon. The construction work in the forefront of the picture is being done for the Hall of Justice and the Grand Center, which were located on the west side of Monroe south of Michigan Street, along the Grand River.
