Description:
A demonstration photograph showing a short leg plaster bandage on the lower extremity of a patient. View includes part of the patient modeling the cast. The photograph is one of ten showing the progression of preparing and removing a walking cast with a cutter made by the Stryker Corporation. The photograph was taken for Dr. Stryker (Stryker Corporation) of Kalamazoo, Michigan. An article in the Kalamazoo Gazette, dated March 3, 1946, reported that the three principal products invented between 1942-1946 by Dr. Stryker's Orthopedic Frame Company were the turning frames for bedfast persons, the cast cutter and the "Stryker Heel" for walking casts.
