Case: double sixth plate daguerreotype leather case with horizontal ribbing; embossed octagonal paper mats; green velvet pad.; In case, at left: a half length portrait of a seated man, holding a small book in one hand, the other arm resting on an adjacent table covered with a flowered cloth; propped on the table is a picture of a steamboat underway. At right: a half length portrait of a young woman wearing a lace fichu, leaning over an sleeping infant she holds on her lap (probably Henry Ward, b. ca. 1842).
