Kalamazoo Public Library, exterior facade
Description:
Black-and-white photograph of the Kalamazoo Public Library's downtown library on the southeast corner of South Rose and West South Streets. Shows new building after its completion in 1959. Automobiles are parked both on South Rose and West South Street. Building designed by Stewart-Kingscott Company. The building inspired by Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye, a two-story, 1930s-era building near Paris, whose second level seems to float on columns surrounding a recessed ground floor.
