Karl and me.
Two photographs, purporting to show the brothers Karl and Henry Gage, in life and beyond. The earlier photograph, a ruby glass ambrotype, is a studio portrait of two men, wearing coats and hats, holding suitcases; a note inside photograph case reads, "Karl and me, San Francisco, 1853." The second photograph, a tintype, is a head and shoulders portrait of a man with a mustache, a "ghost" head floating over his own; inscribed inside photograph case: "San Francisco, 1873. Karl & me. Henry H. Gage, d. 1869."; Title from item.
