Oral history interview with Don Scott conducted by Lewis Carlson on July 27, 1989. Don Scott was the long time track and field trainer for WMU and head of dorms for many years. Don recalls his early childhood and education in the Kalamazoo public school system and odd jobs in Kalamazoo. He recollects how he got into coaching through Dr. Henry starting in 1925, and his coaching experience in Wisconsin. He also describes other WMU faculty whom he knew through his father-in-law, Fred Huff, and coaches he worked with in the 30s and 40s. In 1948, Don Scott took a position in the residence halls. He describes the expansion period of WMU campus, the student growth, the take-over of the student union by black students in 1969, and various sports events.
