Oral history interview with WMU alumnus George Dales, conducted by Lew Carlson on May 8, 1989 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dales discusses how he came to work in sports at WMU, and working as an instructor at Miami University for the Navy on aboard the USS Alaska. Dales also discusses recruitment techniques, Olympics athletes, track stars, a brief international coaching experience in Greece and Mexico City, employment conditions, working as editor for the Track and Field Quarterly journal, racial incidents in Kokomo, and the shortcomings of the sports system.
