Oral history interview with Gertrude Milham, conducted by Lewis Carlson on February 24, 1990. Milham recounts her childhood growing up on her grandfather’s farm and early education at a nearby school taught by her father. She discusses going to Smith College, graduating in 1910 and returning to Kalamazoo in 1911. She discusses the WMU buildings in the 1910s, starting at Kalamazoo Central in 1911 and the changes at Kalamazoo Central up to her retirement in 1947. She describes her activities as a girl, commuting between work and home in a horse and buggy, and learning to drive in 1914. She passed way on March 12,1995, at 107 years old.
