Paul Pommer correspondence, 1918-01-17, World War I
Letter from Mrs. Gustav Pommer addressed to musketeer Paul Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany, dated January 17, 1918. In the letter, Pommer's mother describes receiving his letter during a visit from a Mr. Kull, and the families eagerness to hear from him. She describes packages sent, including timelines and descriptions of their contents. She urges Pommer to send extra undershirts when he has too many. She prefers not to ship money as Pommer’s requested, but Mr. Kull and some others are willing. She describes the difficulties of sending and receiving packages including missing letters and packages of bread and tobacco. She urges him to write to Frieda and Willi Lauscher, who are in the hospital with “black bladder”, at his uncle Fritz’s request. She writes about Pommer’s recent sickness and shares her sympathies. She remarks on the windy weather. She offers comfort in God and feels that he will bring them luck or will act as his will intends. She concludes with greetings from the family.
