Paul Pommer correspondence, 1918-02-22, World War I
Letter from musketeer Paul Pommer addressed to the family of Gust. (Gustav) Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany. Postmarked K.D. Feldpost, February 24, 1918. Pommer is writing outside since he has a few moments in the afternoon. He claims to be in the small village of Maubeuge in Northern France, where he had a course with the army machine division. He notes the rain continues to be heavy on the front, making it difficult to write home. He has been regularly sick with a cough, stuffy nose, and temperature since he arrived on the front. Pommer claims the food there is not great either. Pommer comments that his superior as very traditional compared to his superior in Flanders. Pommer again contemplates Russia's "freedom".
