Paul Pommer correspondence, 1918-03-04, World War I
Letter from musketeer Paul Pommer addressed to the family of Gust. (Gustav) Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany. Postmarked K.D. Feldpost, March 8, 1918. Pommer thanks his mother for her package containing marmalade, apples, butter, and two Marks, although he recognizes that even with money one is limited in what one can buy. He expresses his wish that what happened in France would happen in Russia so the war would not continue. He mentions that he is not able to write often because of the difficulty sending letters. He apologizes for failing to respond to any letters; he always looks forward to receiving them. He writes that all is going well except for the rain and snow. Pommer wraps up the letter giving directions on how to better send their packages.
