Rome; Lamps; Glaze; Clay (unfired)

Description:

Pale buff clay with mottled reddish and brown glaze. Nozzle end and adjoining side and rim on left missing. Broad plain rim divides at nozzle and ends terminate in volutes. Two circular grooves between rim and discus. In center of discus is cock to right, palm branch held in his left claw. Ring handle, three grooves on upper half. Slightly raised base set off by circular groove. Base is uneven but too worn to see if it had raised stamp.
