Detroit, October 3, 1969. Dave (John's brother) Sinclair's son holding a placard created by Leni Sinclair. The placard shows Sinclair holding a joint in front of the Black Panther’s Guerilla Free Newspaper of the Streets (1968), which carries the headline “Poetry is Revolution,” the title of Amiri Baraka’s poem reproduced in the paper. This issue contained appeals for the defense funds of Baraka, Huey Newton, and H. Rap Brown. It was edited by Sinclair.
