World War I German soldier’s photograph album 1, front
Photograph album with geometric, cloth cover. 6 ½ x 9 x 1 in. There are twenty-four pages with four photographs per page in window-pane openings. Photographs are not visibly identified and the backs are not easily accessed. Album contains the personal photographs of a German WWI soldier on the Western front, mostly likely in France or Belgium. The subjects of the images are varied, including: aerial images of the front lines from an observation plane; observation plane with pilot and observer; battlefields and trenches; no man’s land; bombed-out buildings, churches, towns, and railroad tracks; French prisoners of war and captured weapons; observation balloons; German hospital staff; and German soldiers and officers.
