Detroit Boat Club burgees are painted on the sides of several of the canoes. In the distance an early automobile is visible on the road beside the lake. It was bought from the Chippewa and Ottawa Indians for eight Barrels of rum, three rolls of tobacco, six pounds of vermillion and a belt of wampum, by Lieutenant Mc Dougall in 1769.
